MINISTRY IN BRAZIL

In many years of serving the Lord in Brazil I was able to create and make music in several cities and collaborated with many churches.

From my teenage years until my move to the USA, I was involved with the music ministries of the First Baptist Church of Curitiba, PR. I conducted the A.B.Deter choir in many occasions and led youth choirs, special ensembles and orchestras in cantatas and musicals. A special honor for me was to work alongside Pr. Marcílio de Oliveira Fo. as his assistant. Pr. Marcílio was a great inspiration and a wise leader, besides being a great servant of God.

From 1988 to 1999 I lived in Ponta Grossa, PR and there I had sort of an independent ministry. I helped several churches at the same time - either translating music, arranging for choirs, vocal coaching entire choirs or individual singers. And of course, leading worship! Amongst the churches in that area that I worked with are: First Presbyterian Church of Ponta Grossa, Good Shepherd Lutheran Church (I led a top-notch choir there), First Assembly of God and the Resurrection Lutheran Church in Imbituva, PR.

The ministry in Ponta Grossa was specially active. Perhaps because of the influence I had with all those churches I was invited to lead the Evangelical Choir, a 120-member choir formed by singers from 34 churches in the city. This choir presented yearly an Easter and a Christmas musical. I led them in the Easter musical 'Alone on the Altar" and "The Wonders of His Love" and "A Christmas Full of Life", the latter recorded in a CD.

Perhaps the most gratifying feeling I have from those times is to know that several of the musicians who collaborated with me and my wife in those endeavors are now in ministry themselves. Many of our accompanists, lead singers, assistants went on to pursue music degrees and musical studies so they could continue praising God and leading people to Christ. Occasionally I surf YouTube and find videos of them leading, singing and playing - and frequently is music I translated and/or introduced to them.
